Francis Pharcellus Church CC 1859 was a writer and editor best known for composing the most re-printed editorial in history, "Is There a Santa Clause?" (which contains the immortal line "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus) in the New York Sun, where he was a lead editorial writer. His work is read at Columbia every year during the Yule Log Ceremony.
