St. John's College is, like the University of Chicago, an imitator of Columbia's Core Curriculum that often gets more credit for its dedication to the Great Books than Alma Mater herself. In fact, St. John's curriculum was heavily influenced by lifelong Columbian Mortimer Adler.

It has two campuses - in Annapolis, Maryland, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is not to be confused with St. John's University in Queens.
