Tao Tan was a student in the Columbia College Class of 2007, after having been a student in the SEAS Class of 2007. He was the CPA of East Campus from 2006 to 2007, but was not on campus much in those years.

He was transported to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia between 2007-2008, but has since moved to Hang-chou, Chekiang, China, where he, despite escaping from the penal colony, continues to serve out his sentence of hard labour.

In 2007-2008, he served as Chairman of the Australia Alumni Representative Committee. In 2008, he became the Co-Chair of the China Alumni Representative Committee.

His name can be written many different ways.
