Anti-oppression training is a vaguely Stalinist-sounding program that has been urged by several campus protest groups over the last several years. It is difficult to define, but not very popular. Thanks to SHOCC, it is now a somewhat mandatory part of NSOP. Thanks to the 2007 hunger strike, incoming faculty have to deal with it too.

Columbia being the multicultural institution that it is, few participants in anti-oppression training are actually oppressors.

Anti-oppression training is a necessary component of social change because our culture (as well as many other cultures) has brainwashed us into unwittingly practicing patriarchy, the dominance of women, and white supremacy. In order to undermine our racism and sexism, rigorous self-examination is necessary.
