The Computer Science Department is one of the most unique departments at Columbia, as it is a department of both Columbia College and SEAS, though more closely associated with Engineering. The department also allows students in Barnard and General Studies to major in computer science. The department is housed within the Computer Science Building, which is an annex sandwiched between Mudd, Fairchild, and Engineering Terrace.

Two majors are offered to undergraduates: computer science and computer engineering. Computer engineering is only open to students in SEAS.
