A Special Interest Community (SIC) is a housing space occupied by a group of individuals dedicated to some cause. SICs are organized by the Office of Residential Programs. SICs can be found in various housing locations not available in room selection, such as the ground floor of McBain, the second floor of Wien, and some recently renovated brownstones.

SICs are widely perceived as a back door to better housing. However, SICs are bound by stringent contractual obligations and expectations, which are perhaps better enforced than those of the LLC.
