Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the current President of Iran. Invitations for him to speak at the university during the annual autumn World Leaders Forum ignited controversy in both 2006 and 2007; a private dinner invitation the president extended to Columbia groups renewed the uproar in 2011. Ahmadinejad once again was the center of the campus dialogue as a conspiracy within the Columbia University College Republicans (CUCR) drew in both Bwog and The Spectator. This event ended in the resignation of both the conspirators, William Prasifka, CC ’12, President and David Paszko, CC ’12, Director of Finance from the CUCR Board.
==The Spectator Breaks the News, Bwog Challenges==
On February 26, 2012 Spectator Senior Staff Writer Yasmin Gagne, after two weeks of research, published an article titled ''CUCR members plan to invite Ahmadinejad to campus'' based on - what turned out to be unendorsed the the whole CUCR board - a CUCR Draft invitation to Mahmoud. Bwog, also receiving the same documents but assuming they where false, published an article challenging The Spectator and publishing the raw draft sent to Bwog. Bwog commenters quickly started accusing the Spec of wrong doing due to the improbable nature of the tip.
The '''National Society of Black Engineers''' ('''NSBE''') is an engineering student group which supports engineering students in their professional development. Every action the club takes is directed by the [http://national.nsbe.org/ National Organization's] mission statement: "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community". In addition to professional development, NSBE participates in community service and leisure activities. The group also participates in the annual Zone, Regional and National NSBE conventions.

==Membership and Recognition==
NSBE is recognized by the [[Activities Board at Columbia]] and receives additional support from the [[Engineering Student Council]].

In addition to engineers and black students, NSBE has members from [[Columbia College]] and people of all races. Members include first-years through seniors.

==General Body Meetings==

General Body Meetings take place Wednesdays at 7pm in either the East or West Ramp Lounge in [[Alfred Lerner Hall]]. Every meeting starts by the whole group saying the mission statement as a group. Topics of the meetings include finding an internship, surviving the corporate environment, getting into graduate school, finding a job and many other similar topics. There are also meeting where the group plays games or talks about their academic stresses and how they overcome them.

==Pre-College Initiative==
According to the national website "the Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Program is designed to stimulate the interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, or STEM. NSBE's goal is to encourage students in grades K–12 to attend college and pursue technical degrees".

Our chapter supports this mission by tutoring high school students and members of nearby NSBE Junior chapters. Tutoring takes place every Saturday at 10am in the East or West Ramp Lounge in [[Alfred Lerner Hall]].

==PCI Ghana==

In addition to helping high school students in the city, this NSBE chapter is helping to found a NSBE PCI branch in Ghana. Using the internet, we provide them with any support they need and ensure they are on the right path towards college.

==T.O.R.C.H.==
The Technical Out Reach Community Help or T.O.R.C.H. program is designed to serve the community by volunteering time to train community in the use of computers and other technology.
I've created several pages here both with "anyonymous IP's" or with my username and my pages have been deleted and re-created under other usernames or IP's. What gives? This is completely unfair for authors.
:Hi. Can you maybe point to which pages so that we can investigate? [[User:Pacman|Pacman]] 18:15, 21 May 2009 (EDT)

== Aesthetics ==

Is there a way to have the "Featured article" span the width of the entire page like "Useful external links" instead of being squished in the same column as "Welcome to WikiCU"?
--[[User:Rab2148|Rab2148]] 22:36, 24 May 2007 (EDT)
:That's my fault. I designed the main page, and I mostly use a 1280x800 screen, so nothing appears squished. However, I do realize that on smaller screens things don't look great. I'll get rid of the calendar just now because it has little use over the summer. This should solve the problem at least for the duration of the summer. {{User:Reaganaut/sig}} 01:31, 25 May 2007 (EDT)
::OK, I've now made that change. I'm not sure that the main page looks better in general, but it should certainly look better on smaller screens. I've also made it a lot easier for others to edit, so perhaps someone else can have a shot at making it look good. It uses three templates: [[Template:Box]] (a simple content box), [[Template:Box2]] (a content box with 2 places for content), and [[Template:Box-links]] (a content box for the external links, because I couldn't seem to use [[Template:Box]] in conjunction with <nowiki>{{:Links}}</nowiki>). These content boxes are contained within a simple table that's set to 80% of the width of the page. {{User:Reaganaut/sig}} 02:20, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

== PLEASE EDIT THE MAIN PAGE!!! ==

I've removed all the complicated formatting on the main page, so now it's just a simple wiki page like any other. It may not look quite so nice, but I'm hoping this will encourage more edits. So if you want to add something, GO AHEAD! {{User:Reaganaut/sig}} 21:26, 16 January 2008 (EST)

== Aesthetics ==

: I like this aesthetic - nice work! [[User:Jiabao|Jiabao]] 09:22, 17 January 2008 (EST)

== History ==
CUPAL was formed in [[2000]] by students [[Natalie Robin]] and [[Stacey McMath]], who at the time were on the executive boards of [[KCST]] and [[Late Nite Theatre]], respectively. They formed CUPAL as a way of increasing communication among campus performing arts groups.

=== Special Project ===
At least once per semester, CUPAL sponsors a "special project", an original production which is not tied to any established performing arts group.

=== Showcase ===
CUPAL holds an annual showcase in which all of its member groups contribute to a single production in order to expand the audience of each participating group.

== Member groups ==
}}The '''Organization of Pakistani Students''' is a student group open to all Columbia University undergraduate & graduate students, staff, and faculty. We seek to bring together those members of the Columbia & Barnard community that share our interest in the social, cultural, and political milieu of Pakistan and Central & South Asia. The club was founded over a decade ago with hopes of fostering understanding and diversity at our campus - and still strives to achieve that vision today.
