**Well, maybe it's because Bwog relies on tipsters to get news, and if no one's told them, they can't report on it. Or maybe Spec is still catching up on the summer news cycle and hasn't gotten to this story in the pipeline. Considering that they covered the return of Fiji's house, I'd expect this to be the case. Nobody's really sure what they do. They seem to be a PR move, designed to keep Columbia's "superstar faculty", such as Jeffrey Sachs, Joseph Stiglitz, and Orhan Pamuk, in the limelight. The are well-funded and their events have good, free food, even if the content ranges variously from the incomprehensible to the incoherent.

Fun Fact: Came up with the slogan "Think globally, act locally."

Thanks for your clarification as to the Psi U founding date. Still, I disagree with your claim that Psi U is the "oldest fraternity" at Columbia. As a member of Columbia's chapter of ADP, we trace a legacy back to the 1836 founding. Whether that makes us a fraternity by your definition is up to you, but ADP is still both the oldest Greek Letter organization at Columbia and the first fraternity at Columbia.

'''Psi Upsilon''' is a fraternity, once known as being primarily for engineers and computer science majors. In past years, Psi U has been regarded as a somewhat dorky frat; parties featured students walking in to get beer and walking out to leave soon afterwards. Since [[2004]], the fraternity has been staging a comeback, and its most recent pledge classes have been primarily composed of [[Columbia College|CC]], rather than [[SEAS]], students. One of the most storied fraternities at Columbia, Psi U has produced several distinguished alumni.

The Lambda Chapter of Psi Upsilon is the oldest fraternity on Columbia's campus. (This fact is simply false and made up.)

The Lambda house, located at 542 W [[Frat Row|114th Street]], across from Columbia's [[Carman Hall|Carman]] dormitory, has been home to the Fraternity since [[1952]]. Psi U is known for its annual 80s Party, an affection for/addiction to hookah, and the owl which sits above its doorway.

They are known as a sort of alternative to fraternities and sororities and this reputation is reflected by its membership, a collection of bohemian/hipster types. They throw a popular event called "Hot Jazz" every year, although it was cancelled in [[2007]] due to ADP's inability to get permission from Columbia. This is further evidence that they are different from fraternities, since "real" fraternities don't feel the need to get permission from the university to throw parties.

Famous alumni of the Columbia Chapter of the Alpha Delta Phi include Ben Stein CC '66 and Thomas Merton CC '37
