Columbia University Science Fiction Society (CUSFS, pronounced "cuss-fuss") is a club dedicated to the appreciation of science fiction as well as "just about everything else geeky or fandom-related". Their previous slogan, "CUSFS: Not too cool for you" no longer appears in the most current version of their website, but chances are that they continue not to be too cool for you. They hold weekly meetings, organize film viewings, RPG playing, and hold library hours.

{{quotation
History
CUSFS was originally founded in 1966 by Fred Lerner ’66CC, ’81LS as the Columbia University Science Fantasy Society. However, the group dissipated soon after Fred's graduation and induction into the Army in June of that year. After returning from the army Fred Lerner returned to Columbia for post-graduate studies. He reformed the club in the summer of 1968 as the Fantasy and Science Fiction Society of Columbia University (FSFSCU, pronounced "fiss-fiss-cue"). FSFSCU published the fan-zine AKOS and survived into the early 1970s. The organization was revived in the 1980s once again as CUSFS, but this time as the Columbia University Science Fiction Society and is active to this day .
Editors' Message Board
*So I think we should create some kind of page to use as a 'message board' of sorts where editors can post things for other editors, or check in for news. For example, I see someone has tried to start a discussion about the Notability standard at Talk:Notability but if you didn't look at recent changes today, you might not know. I'm not really familiar with wiki back-end and management, so I'm not sure what the best way to do that is (and we're using the Community Portal for something else). But I think that would be a good step towards maintaining the momentum from 2013 Columbia Wikithon. Let me know what you (and others) think. I'll try to flag down a few other people so they know I've posted this (the fact that I need to go post on individual talk pages neatly demonstrates the issue I'm talking about). Absentminded 01:01, 30 April 2013 (EDT)

*On this similar note, is there a place where we can find the earliest articles created so that they can be refreshed. Ad2397 09:52, 30 April 2013 (EDT)

*OK I've created this page: WikiCU:Editors bulletin board. Maybe we can put a link to this on the main page, the community portal, maybe the welcome link?
:Yeah, this is a very good idea. cds2148 22:58, 1 May 2013 (EDT)

* Hey Cds. I'm a new user and I just added Empire State University and wanted to ask if it fit with the goal of the wiki. I was also considering starting a How I Met Your Mother article and cataloguing all the references / shots from Columbia as I watched the show. Thoughts? Rkuykendall
:Hello! First off, sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes in a row to add your name and a timestamp (four of these: "~").

:As for Empire State University, fictional portrayals of CU are within the goal of the wiki (not that I am the arbiter of that). Columbia references in HIMYM would also be cool. Ted Mosby already has a page. And see fictional alumni for a Marshall mention. cds2148 13:20, 28 September 2013 (EDT)

:: Yeah, I just figured I would ask a recently active user instead of tracking down the highest authority somehow. That way I knew I wasn't doing anything obviously wrong. Thanks for the help! Rkuykendall 13:43, 28 September 2013 (EDT)
