Those who find value in safe space explain that, at a school like Columbia, students frequently feel attacked and targeted by a campus atmosphere that allows for affirmative action bakesales, racist comics, and homophobic and racist hate crimes. Producing and supporting safe space is about building community spaces where the values of compassion, and inclusion, and the celebration of individual differences are encouraged. The intention is not to create safe spaces to stand in contrast to that which is unsafe, but rather, to move towards a university community where those values are respected across campus.
In my own personal view, I would disagree with your statements that he "hates whites," and "writes shitty columns". My concern, however, is not so much with the validity of your statements, but rather, the motivation for writing those words. If, as you say, Jungs comments seem to you to express a hatred of white people, i would suggest that perhaps you should examine yourself, and consider what it is that makes you so quick to defend whiteness and white people. Jung is pointing to the nature of a society that still practices numerous forms of racism and racialized thinking. Critiqing that mode of thought, which so often privileges whiteness, is something that perhaps we should all do a little bit more often. --Sbr2113 12:43, 26 April 2007 (EDT)

This is a clear breach of neutrality, and reflects a biased opinion. To see that the page was created by such a significant contributor (reaganaut) poses serious questions about the nature of this wiki and the people who purport to be creating it. What is more, the information posted on Alex Jung is hurtful and seems like a personal attack grounded in animosity. --Sbr2113 11:49, 26 April 2007 (EDT)

Alfred Lerner Hall is the student center. It was built from 1996-1999 replacing Ferris Booth Hall.

It was designed by Bernard Tschumi, and widely criticized for its slanted ramp structures, which are not the most efficient means of moving about within the building and take up vital space.

The stairs in the 'exit' stairwells are the quickest way to navigate Lerner.

The piano lounge's name comes from the giant grand piano located next to the entrance. Because people are welcome to play, the lounge can sometimes be a noisy place to study. If you want peace and quiet, you could head up to some of the seating littered around the building, or down to the seating outside the Party Space entrance. Also try the Satow Room on the 5th floor, and the ramp lounges on the 2nd floor.
