'''1020''' is a reasonably good bar on [[Amsterdam Avenue]] at 110th St. It was once the low-key haunt of grad students and hipsters. Today, although it continues to skew a little older, 1020 is now home to a more energetic crowd.

The bar boasts a dart board and one of the neighborhood's only respectable pool tables. It also comes with friendly bartenders and a groovy decor. Random movies are projected onto a large screen in the back.

Drinks are fairly cheap and happy hours run every day from 4pm-7pm when drinks and tap beers are half price. If you're looking for a quieter scene and cigarette-centric conversation, head over later in the evening; the place is open till 4 am.

Due to harsher laws concerning underage drinking, 1020 will be undergoing a change in its ID system as of fall 2007; a machine will be installed at the door to validate IDs, making it much harder for Columbia underclassmen to get in.

|Population=363}}'''McBain''' is a residence hall that mostly houses sophomores in doubles. It is on the south-east corner of 113th St and Broadway. It is sometimes known as 'Carman 2' because it is full of sophomores and the social atmosphere is similar to [[Carman Hall|Carman]].

Doubles in the McBain shaft are considered to be among the worst rooms at Columbia. They are typically selected as 'blind' doubles in General Selection. They range from 195 to 209 sq ft. Due to the shaft, they have no views, and are hot, noisy, and dark. The 06 and 25 lines are especially bad because they only have one small window.

* Great walk-through doubles in the corners of the building.

* 04 line is a 140 sq ft single.
* 10 line is a 331 sq ft corner double.

=== Disadvantages ===
* Only one elevator, and it's slow.
* Noisy.
* The rooms on the shaft often have no light or fresh air, and have terrifyingly close views of one another.
