==Shaky finances and impact on campus==

In [[2003]], Union agreed to lease three buildings to Columbia in order to stabilize shaky finances. These are [[80 Claremont]] Ave, which houses the university's [[Religion Department]] and [[Science and Technology Ventures]]; [[Knox Hall]], used by the [[Economics Department]] and [[Sociology Department]] departments; and [[Dickinson Hall]].<ref>[http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D02E7DD1E3FF930A35752C0A9659C8B63&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss]</ref>

In the 2020s, the seminary has also acted on air rights it discovered in the 1980s to allow for a condo tower, [[Claremont Hall]], to be constructed on campus in order to derive more revenue.
