Founded in 2001, '''Columbia Classical Performers''' seeks to support the community of classical musicians on campus who wish to perform in an intimate, stress-free environment for their peers. CCP works to give musicians performance opportunities by providing venues all over campus, coordinating recital logistics, publicizing events, and planning post-concert receptions. CCP has a dual purpose: to allow musicians an outlet to share their music with the public, and to provide the Columbia community with free, high-quality classical music.

Past recital venues have included Philosophy Hall, Lerner Hall, and Miller Theatre, and performers have included violinists and pianists to oboists and a mandolin player. The diverse programming over the years has included staples of repertoire such as works by Beethoven and Mozart, to new music composed by students and leading contemporary composers like
Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Founded in September 2008 among friends and colleagues at Columbia University, fourbythree is a string ensemble made up by thirteen young musicians dedicated to bridging the gap between traditional repertoire, contemporary music, and works by emerging composers. With the intent of introducing audiences to both new and familiar sounds, we hope to trace the common thread between musical works in a way that is as illuminating and engrossing for our listeners as it is for us.

Many of fourbythree's musicians are rising artists in their own right -- our members have appeared alongside legendary performers and conductors, as soloists and chamber musicians in music festivals and halls across the world. Collectively, fourbythree is our outlet in which we experiment within the dynamics of an independent, mostly unconducted chamber ensemble. Our musicians contribute to all aspects of the group, from repertoire and rehearsal planning to business operations.

In our second season, fourbythree presented concerts and special performances at a variety of Manhattan venues, including Miller Theatre, Symphony Space, and Turtle Bay Music School. Our April 11th concert will include two world premieres by two of our Columbia colleagues, Ryan Beppel and Eugene Birman.
