FeelGood CU is part of a non-profit youth movement to end world hunger by 2030. At 25 colleges and universities across the country, college students come together to form student enterprises to sell grilled cheese where 100% of the proceeds go to The Hunger Project or CHOICE Humanitarian for the sustainable end of word hunger.

They are listed under SGB and through partnership, not charity, they are a silly group of kids who are serious about ending world hunger. Do Good, FeelGood.

In 2008, the Columbia chapter of FeelGood was founded. Through a partnership with Columbia Dining Services, they operated a kiosk outside of JJ’s in the basement of John Jay. They sold gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches for the price of “Whatever Makes you FeelGood”.

However, during the spring of 2012, the New York City Health department changed the health code and laws; it became one permit or user per kitchen. As a result, when Columbia Dining Services renovated JJ’s, the partnership with Columbia Dining Services was ended.

This ultimately had a mixed result. Although, FeelGood CU lost its permanent grilling and selling location, it forced FGCU to become innovative. In order to maintain the level of fundraising, hunger education and member retention, FGCU held various events such as: movie screenings, benefit concerts, cooking classes, grilled cheese competitions, and speaking engagements with other clubs.

Today, they are still looking for a permanent grilling space either on or off campus through partnerships with other clubs and organizations.

Fundraising is just one component of the FeelGood operation. The other is hunger education and awareness. At every meeting, FeelGood CU teaches its members more about the methodology used by The Hunger Project and other hunger eradication techniques. Such topics include: the hunger cycle, gender equality, grassroots movements, micro-financing, the Epicenter Strategy, and more.
