The [Division of Student Affairs] runs the Urban New York lottery every semester for [SEAS] and [CC] students. Students who enter the lottery are asked to rank about 20 or so cultural events in order of preference. Lottery winners get a free ticket to one of the cultural events he or she ranked. The most coveted tickets are usually to Broadway shows. As part of Urban NY, Columbia will foot the bill for an $8 dessert at [Pertutti]. In the Fall semester, the lottery is only open to first-years; it is open to upperclassmen and first-years in the Spring semester.

* If you don't receive your top choice, you can often meet up with the group that's going to that event on the day of to take the spot of someone who doesn't show.
