David Hirsh was the Executive Vice President for Research. He resigned on July 9, 2010, following the Kreitschman PET Center scandal, but is remaining in his position until a successor is found.

Hirsh also has appointments at the Medical Center and is Robert Wood Johnson, Jr. Professor and Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics.
