The Department of Public Safety is the university's mini police force. Public Safety officers guard the entrances to dorms and some other important university buildings, like Butler Library. In addition, they patrol the neighborhood in patrol cars, on foot, from various prison-watchtower-like outposts, and on bicycles. They also monitor campus and its surrounds via video surveillance from their headquarters in Low Library.
