First Friday is a monthly dance/party organized by the Columbia Queer Alliance in Lerner Party Space and sometimes the Q House Basement. The dance used to be fun.

In 2009, CQA attempted to have First Friday recognized as its own student group by ABC, as it is somewhat independent from the larger CQA group. However, the request was denied and CQA continues to fund and operate First Friday as of 2011.

Since the 2011-12 school year, First Friday has seen a sharp decline in attendance. This may be attributed to the lack of alcohol at the event, or a lack of quality advertising. But it's probably because of Grindr/Tinder. Typically, the first First Friday is considered to be the best one.
