Individuals and organizations looking for professionally produced flyers, programs, brochures, and other printed items have several vendors to choose from in Morningside Heights. Selecting the service that best fits your needs depends on the scope of your budget, your project, and your deadline.

Steps

  1. Choose a vendor.
    1. Barnard Print Services is typically regarded as the cheapest, most reliable print vendor in the area. However, they are only open in 13 Milbank (underground in the Milbank building toward the north end of Barnard's campus) on Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. While turnaround is usually speedy, they should not be used for last minute emergencies. Their list of job types includes print jobs 13" x 19" or smaller, wide format posters or banners (13" x 19"), envelopes (not stationary; offsite production), business reply mail design, and stationary. They accept payment through Barnard accounts and Columbia student group accounts or through credit card purchases (no cash) for student course work and personal work.
    2. Columbia Print Services provides printing, graphic design, bulk mail, and copier services to the Columbia community. They support business, academic, and event needs through design, production, and finishing, but their services are typically more expensive than Barnard Print Services. Columbia Print Services is located in 106 Journalism and is open on Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. For a full listing of print services, click here. For mailing services, click here. Copy information is here, and additional services are available here.
    3. Village Copier is your best bet for last minute needs due to its extended hours. There are two locations in Morningside Heights: one at 112th Street and Broadway, the other at Amsterdam Avenue and 118th Street. The Broadway location is open on Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 11 pm, Friday from 8 am to 9 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm. The Amsterdam location is open on Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm and on Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
  2. Obtain a free estimate.
    1. For Barnard Print Services, email your request for an estimate to printing@barnard.edu. Be sure to include all job specifications and billing information to receive an accurate estimate.
    2. For Columbia Print Services, select a form here to request a free estimate.
    3. For Village Copier, either visit one of the locations or call the store directly for a rough estimate. Broadway location: 212-666-0600, Amsterdam location: 212-666-4777
  3. Place your order.
    1. For Barnard Print Services, you may email a completed order form for your request to printing@barnard.edu. Order forms for different job types can be found here. When submitting files to Barnard Print Services, you have several options:
      1. Place the file in the secure Print Services Dropbox (up to 2GB in size). This is the preferred method. You can also choose to upload your print job order form to the Dropbox instead of sending it separately by email. Indicate in the message tool whether you are attaching the order form or sending it in a separate email.
      2. Bring your file to Print Services on a CD/DVD, USB key, or portable USB hard drive. Do NOT go to Print Services and ask to use their computers to download an attachment from your email account.
      3. Email as an attachment to Print Services (20-25 MB maximum size).
    2. For Columbia Print Services, use the submission form here or visit the office in 106 Journalism.
    3. For Village Copier, visit one of the two retail stores.
