See also Wikipedia's article about "Lawrence Wien".

Lawrence A. Wien, CC '25, Law '27, was a generous alumnus and trustee of the university who made his fortune in real estate.

Among his many contributions were funds for the construction of Wien Stadium and renovation of Johnson Hall, for which the building and it's food court were renamed in his honor.

In addition, the Wien Reference Room in Butler Library and the Lawrence A. Wien Prize for Social Responsibility are named after him.

In honor of Wien's devotion to Columbia, there is a display of some of his Columbia-related personal effects in the Butler Reference Room, including honorary degrees, recognitions from Columbia, and photographs. All-in-all, pretty cool.
