Max SoHa is a good Italian restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue at 123rd St, owned by the same people as Max Cafe. Note that despite being an Italian restaurant, Max SoHa doesn't serve pizza. Also, it only accepts cash.
The restaurant is a quaint, brick-walled, cozy place. It serves delicious pasta, often homemade, at a reasonable price. The gnocchi is both cheap and divine. Seating is tight, but somewhat better in warm weather, when the outdoor deck is open.
