A meal plan is a contract with Dining Services for a particular number of meals each semester at John Jay Dining Hall. Due to a bilateral agreement, meals can also be redeemed at Hewitt Dining Hall.

Unused John Jay meals expire at the end of the semester.

First year meal plan

All first years are required to take out a meal plan. There are 4 options, each of which costs the same but includes a different balance of John Jay Dining Hall meals and First Year Points that can be redeemed at other on-campus dining locations. Most first years are advised to choose one of the 2 options with the least JJ meals and the most points. Those who select an option with a lot of JJ meals rarely end up using all of these.

Upperclass meal plan

Sophs, juniors and seniors are also offered meal plans, but these usually only include JJ meals. (They don't come with First Year Points, although they sometimes come with Dining Dollars if you sign up early.)

Upperclass meal plans are popular among student athletes.
