Richard Betts holds the title of Arnold Saltzman Professor of War and Peace Studies and is the director of the Saltzman Institute. While not as influential within the world of international relations theory as his colleagues Robert Jervis and Kenneth Waltz, he is quite influential in the world of US foreign policy and security studies. He is a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, and his books have won a number of awards.
