Spec op-eds are a very special kind of article where you can say whatever you want, as long as it's grammatically correct. Contrary to popular belief, op-eds are not news articles, but rather, opinion pieces that are subject to the individual biases of its contributors. Spec doesn't let you write for news and opinion at the same time.
