The '''University of Chicago''' is best-known as the '''University Where Fun Goes to Die'''. Students even wear T-shirts proclaiming this sad fact. In fact, the university has such a scary reputation that few apply, and thus almost half get in. Students take pride in the so-called "Uncommon Application," since there is little else about which to be proud.

U of C is located in Hyde Park of the South Side of Chicago.  Otherwise, the most GHETTO area of the entire city. Students usually do not travel after dark for fear of getting jacked. Furthermore, the fact that University of Chicago's Police is second in size to the Chicago Police Department does not quench these fears.  Lastly, the streets in and around the university's campus are extremely narrow to begin with and it doesn't help when people park their cars on either side of the roads.

Finally, the University of Chicago calls itself the Maroons.  A lame color that the university chose because it was incapable of choosing a real animal.  Unofficially, the university uses the Phoenix which is present on its shield.  The University of Chicago chose this mythical creature to represent the rebirth of the city of Chicago and the original university that burnt down with it during the Great Chicago Fire. That's what you get when you build a city mostly out of wood.

The University of Chicago is known to many as the University Where Fun Goes to Die. Students proudly wear T-shirts proclaiming this statement, for they know better. This year the University received its largest ever applicant pool. Looks like many of us want to enrich our knowledge after all. Crescat scientia; vita excolatur. For those of you who never took Latin (so, like, 92% of the Columbia student body), that's UChicago's real motto: Let knowledge grow from more to more; and so be human life enriched."

A typical Columbia student

U of C is located in Hyde Park of Chicago, known as one of the world's most culturally rich neighborhoods. It is also known as one of the city's safest neighborhoods. Students usually do not travel after dark, but that's just because they are usually in library studying, or hanging out in their Houses. Everyone on campus always feels safe, as the University of Chicago's Police is second in size only to the Chicago Police Department.

Chicago claims to have either an older or more rigorous Core Curriculum than Columbia. According to a WikiCU contributor, [1] (he went to Columbia, while his sister went to UChicago), "the University of Chicago's Core Cirriculum is generally recognized as superior to Columbia's in both depth and difficulty". Such assertions have been many a time verified in the New York Times, USA Today, and TIME Magazine. In fact, really, the only news source to publish articles on Columbia's superiority has been The Onion.

While Columbia did plagiarize the concept for its Committee on Global Thought from Chicago's prestigious Committee on Social Thought, University of Chicago students are gentle and merciful, placing education and the fruits of life over revenge.

Finally, the University of Chicago calls itself the Maroons, referring to the lush color that is often accompanied by the school's unofficial mascot, the Phoenix, which is present on its shield. The University of Chicago chose this mythical creature to represent the rebirth of the city of Chicago and the original university that burnt down with it during the Great Chicago Fire. We don't make the same mistake twice.
