West Side Market was a supermarket located on the ground floor of the terracotta building then located on the northeast corner of 110th and Broadway. It was next to Columbia Hot Bagels. When the building owner decided to build a condiminium at the site, West Side Market and CoBag had to close. [1]

Legal wrangling over zoning law caused several months of construction delays, ending in the destruction of what was then the oldest existing commercial structure in Morningside Heights. [2] West Side Market will return to the new building, while CoBag has opted not to. [3]

West Side Market has now been closed for almost 3 years. When it finally reopens for 3 months, it will be a completely different place, physically and in the collective student consciousness.
