MFA stands for Master of Fine Arts. At Columbia, this degree is given to students graduating from the School of the Arts, and is awarded in one of four categories - music, writing, theatre, or visual art. It generally takes two years to obtain the degree, and, in addition to serving as a professional credential for artists, it qualifies those who hold it to teach future MFA students thereafter. |
