The Earth and Environmental Engineering (EEE) Department is the newest department in SEAS, founded in 2003. Amusingly, per the University Statutes, the EEE Department is The Henry K. Krumb School of Mines. SEAS of course was founded as the School of Mines, which in turn was named after Mr. Krumb, until the Mines School was subsumed into the School of Engineering (which became SEAS, and subsequently the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science), where it lives on as the EEE Department. Its offices and labs are located on the eighth, ninth, and tenth floors of Mudd, with an administrative office in 918 Mudd. Its areas of concentration are water resources and climate risks, sustainable energy, sustainable mining, and sustainable waste management.
