Klaus Lackner is the Maurice Ewing and J. Lamar Worzel Professor of Geophysics. He is the inventor of some sort of carbon filtration device and is affiliated with the Earth Institute.

His daughter Claire Lackner was the CC Class of 2007 valedictorian and is also a science genius.
