Dogears.net (or just Dogears) was an online student-to-student marketplace founded by Tony Vassilev, CC '04 in September of 2001. Originally started as a used textbook marketplace for Columbia and Barnard students, the site would eventually expand to cover additional schools, and additional categories of goods.

Dogears did not engage in any e-commerce, rather it facilitated communication between buyers and sellers who would have to complete the transaction between themselves. One nice feature of dogears was that it sped up the listing/buying process by allowing you to use ISBN numbers to quickly list your used books/find the right books for your course. And because buyers and sellers tended to all live on the same campus, sales could be completed quickly, and without shipping and handling costs.

Dogears was taken down for an update/overhaul at the end of 2006, but never returned.
