Columbia has speech codes that are deemed by the civil liberties group FIRE to be anti-free speech. FIRE identifies anti-free speech elements in the following Columbia policies or publications:
- Sexual Harassment Policy
- Policy Statement on Discrimination and Sexual Harassment
- Acceptable Use Policy
- First-Year Schedule Book: Diversity Program
- The Union of Student Organizations: Criteria for Membership in the USO
