Franklin Foer CC '96 is the editor of The New Republic.
While at Columbia, he studied history with Eric Foner, Barbara Fields, and Alan Brinkley and considered becoming a historian, but decided journalism was like academia without the uncertainty. Presumably, this made more sense in the 90s.
