Fencing is a varsity sport at Columbia, played by both men and women, with two teams accordingly:

In fact, Columbia has won more NCAA Fencing Championships and more Ivy League Fencing Championships than any other team. Both the men's and women's teams are the 2007 Ivy League champions, and the teams have together taken the NCAA championship in 1951, 1952, 1954 (tie), 1955, 1963, 1965, 1968, 1971 (tie), 1987, 1988, 1989, 1992, and 1993.

The Director of Fencing is George Kolombatovich, who has been with Columbia since 1978.
