I see you've been performing yeoman's work reorganizing the categories. Absentminded 02:14, 2 December 2013 (EST)

Image embeds aren't working. Did something change? cds2148 18:51, 19 November 2013 (EST)

They seem to be working fine. Admin 18:42, 23 November 2013 (EST)

DC++ Page

Just made a page about DC++. It was created under "DC++", but it looks like that page is inaccessible (it re-directs to a page called "Dc" which doesn't exist). Thus, I created another page called DCpp, but that title isn't all that great. Was wondering if there was something that could be done about that.

Message for promising new users

I see you've made some useful contributions. If you plan on sticking around, perhaps you'd like admin privileges... so you can delete and move pages, block users, etc. No minimum commitment is expected or required. Let me know by leaving a message on this page. Admin 22:27, 24 March 2007 (EDT)

  • Before Raza took sabbatical, he wanted a top contributor statistics page. Possible? wang 01:54, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
  • I haven't yet found a "top contributor" feature. Wikipedia has lists of their top contributors, but I don't know how they compile them. I'll look into it again later on today. Admin 07:23, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

Let's keep one wiki page for students clubs. Basic clean 3 column table. Club name (as wiki link to article), contact e-mail, website. Merge SGB and ABC into one list. Let's keep the administrative nonsense out of this. Should we combine club sports in as well, or keep it seperate, or both (merge into the list and keep a seperate article?) Because I think it might be useful to have some List of articles as well (e.g. List of Student Publications). Cleaner and more customizable than category pages. Absentminded 23:46, 24 March 2007 (EDT)

I'm personally inclined just to use categories, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to have one big long list. It's better than the restaurant solution (ie, categorizing everything into a restaurants category and a sub-category). I'd say merge club sports into the one list. Then people can do a (Firefox) search for anything they're interested in.
I really don't think there's any need for more specialized lists such as a list of publications. Categories are fine for that.
If you want, we can each deal with one page. I can process ABC into a clean list, you can process SGB, and perhaps someone else will volunteer for Club Sports. Admin 23:51, 24 March 2007 (EDT)
Alright, I'll get on that soon. Absentminded 11:21, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

Using Columbia's GIF Maps

I've stuck one on the Ruggles Hall article. Take a look and see if we can come up with a better formatting solution.

Looks good. I think it should come after the Google map though. Or have a look at the changes I made... I've floated it on the right. Maybe this isn't good for people will small monitors though. Admin 11:28, 1 April 2007 (EDT)

hey - just shot you an email - wasn't sure whether it's better to write you here or whether you still check the wikicu address. Jdipasq

Oh, right, thanks. I just got your email and will respond soon. -Admin

What good is a forum if nobody uses it!? Would you like to me to add it back again?  − Reaganaut  23:45, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
True. Nm. Pacman 00:43, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

Research Guide

So I've finally tried to piece together a guide to all the resources I've been mining, and thinking of combining it with a brief how to on putting in referneces or at least an external links section. Research Guide and Resources for New Authors - what do you think? I was thinking that maybe we should stick that into the Welcome template once it's a little cleaned up, maybe? Absentminded 00:46, 31 July 2010 (EDT)

It's maybe a bit intimidating to go directly in the welcome template; maybe we should have a more basic welcome page that can point people looking for more "advanced" tips there? Pacman 16:13, 31 July 2010 (EDT)

Spam Attacks

Would it be possible to block new page creations and new user creations for some time? We appear to be undergoing a spam attack of unprecedented intensity and resilience. Nateoxford 14:56, 5 March 2011 (EST)

Looking into it! Really hate these damn spammers Admin 19:43, 5 March 2011 (EST)
I've implemented reCAPTCHA to hopefully put an end to the recent spam attacks. This will require non-admin users to enter the text from an image if they create an account, create a new page or enter new links on a page. Admin 09:05, 10 March 2011 (EST)
Muchas gracias. Hopefully this will save us all some headaches. cam2171 11:18, 10 March 2011 (EST)
Seems not to have worked. I will see what further measures I can take. Admin 03:57, 11 March 2011 (EST)
Have currently disabled account creation. Admins (aka sysops) can still create accounts for people by going to Special:Userlogin, entering a username and email and clicking "by email". Admin 21:55, 11 March 2011 (EST)
Sorry for going AWOL. This latest thing may have worked! Nateoxford 10:49, 15 March 2011 (EDT)
Indeed! Although I think we'll need a longer term solution that doesn't block new users from registering! Will have a think, but in the meantime things should be spam-free. Admin 13:30, 15 March 2011 (EDT)
Should we leave a message on the main page explaining what's going on, at least until we lift restrictions? Nateoxford 09:10, 18 March 2011 (EDT)

Welcome template

I hope you don't mind but I've pimped my Research guide and resources for new authors on the welcome template, now that I've rounded it out a bit with a rough citations best practices section. I also added it to the about page. Seemed like it should go there. Remove it if you think it's inappropriate. (In fact I just noticed that I raised this with you last year. heh.) Absentminded 15:06, 30 August 2011 (EDT)

Who are you now?

Is this Sam now? Can we reach you through this account? Absentminded 14:19, 2 May 2013 (EDT)

I think it's still mostly me, Reaganaut, using this account. I take a look every week or two. Sam possibly uses this account too. Admin 23:36, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
