First Friday is a monthly dance/party organized by the Columbia Queer Alliance in Lerner Party Space. The dance is known for bringing in students from both Columbia and NYU on the first Friday of each month during the academic year. The event is typically a dance with alcohol, but has been known to feature performances, drag shows, and appearances by other student groups.

In 2009, CQA attempted to have First Friday recognized as its own student group by ABC, as it is somewhat independent from the larger CQA group. However, the request was denied and CQA continues to fund and operate First Friday as of 2011.

Since the 2011-12 school year, First Friday has seen a sharp decline in attendance. This may be attributed to the lack of alcohol at the event, or a lack of quality advertising. But it's probably because of Grindr.
