The Women's Lacrosse team at Columbia holds the unfortunate distinction of being among the most dismal programs at a school replete with dismal teams. Playing their inaugural season in 1997, and entering conference play in the Ivy League for the first time in 1998, the team has a lifetime 2-89 record in conference play. The team won its first conference game in 2005, defeating Harvard by 2 goals in its final conference game of the year. Harvard finished the year tied with Columbia for last in the conference. In 2009 the team repeated the feat, defeating Harvard by 1 goal, and ending the season in a last place tie with the Crimson. By contrast, the team was 50-14 in non-conference games from 2003-2010.
