West Hall was a building located roughly where Mathematics Lawn and Earl Hall are today. It was part of the Bloomingdale Insane Asylum's main complex. When Columbia moved to the site it made use of the building for a few years before demolishing it. It various points it housed the Anthropology Department, the University Book Store, and student group space, including the Philolexian Society, the Spectator, The Jester, and Columbia Monthly. It can be seen in early drawings and pictures of the campus.

Not to be confused with College Hall West, ultimately built as Journalism Hall, which would have mirrored its counterpart College Hall East, now Hamilton Hall as the twin homes of the faculty and departments of Columbia College.
