Julia Kalow CC '08 is the salutatorian of the Class of 2008. She is from Newton, Massachusetts, and double-majored in Chemistry and Creative Writing. She was one of the co-winners of the 2008 Karen Osney Brownstein Prize for her fiction. She has also written for The Blue and White, played flute for the Columbia University Wind Ensemble, and dances.

Kalow won a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and will go on to pursue a PhD in organic chemistry at Princeton, and teach at the university level.
