"Taking inspiration from a similar event at King's College, then-president Nicholas Murray Butler began the event in 1910 for students unable to return home for the holidays." Professor Moses Hadas read Clement Moore's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas during the early 1960's. He died in 1966, and was a famed Greek scholar. If my memory serves me correctly, there were no other readings at that time. Moore, of cours, was a 1798 graduate and later faculty member of King's College. Lynn D. Miller, 1966CC
