Marcellus Hartley Dodge (CC 1903) was a trustee and major benefactor of the university. He was the heir of Remington Arms Manufacturing. He probably set the bar for senior fund giving when he donated $350,000 for the construction of Hartley Hall (named for his mother) on his graduation.

His family had previously donated Earl Hall, and his family and estate underwrote the Dodge Physical Fitness Center.
