George Saliba is Professor of Arabic and Islamic Science and affiliated with the MEALAC department.

In the documentary Columbia Unbecoming he, together with some other professors, including Joseph Massad, was accused of presenting anti-Israel viewpoints in his classes and of stifling students' dissenting opinions. Saliba rejected the accusations and published a rebuttal in the Spectator on November 3, 2004, to that effect. He also tells student-athletes in his classes that "you must defeat Princeton!" because of their graceless handling of defeat in the game that snapped Columbia's 44 game football losing streak.
