Professor Marcellus Blount is arrested during these protests. Protesters' demands led to the creation of the Intercultural Resource Center.
- The Philolexian Society declares war on Princeton
- Columbia College graduates its first co-ed class, which entered in 1983. Women quickly dominate: Linda Mischel and Ilaria Rebay are valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively
