Columbia has 79 Departments of Instruction into which faculty are organised. Of the 79 departments, 78 are affiliated with various faculties and one, the Department of Physical Education, stands unaffiliated with any faculty.

Morningside non-professional faculties

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences is organized into 30 departments of instruction, typically split into 5 categories. Numbers refer to the number of full-time faculty reported by OPIR.
