Union Theological Seminary is a graduate school of theology, affiliated with Columbia. It is located between Claremont Avenue and Broadway, 120th to 122nd Streets. The seminary was founded in 1836 by the Presbyterian Church.
The inner quadrangle is often used as a movie location, standing-in for other universities.
Columbia has leased significant space from UTS for it's own use as UTS has shrunk in size in recent years. These include 80 Claremont Ave, which houses the Religion Department since 2005, as well as Science and Technology Ventures, which handles university patents, and Knox Hall, a large building on the corner of the UTS quad that will open for use by the Economics and Sociology departments in 2008-2009.
