Columbians Ahead of Their Time is a list originally published by the university in 2004, the year of its 250th anniversary, celebrating people associated with Columbia who have "shaped the world and how we see it". The list, which continued to expand through 2005, includes faculty, administrators, and alumni. At the same time, the Spectator published a list of the 250 Greatest Columbia Alumni.
